Win millions in the lottery and hit the jackpot? It’s all possible and on several days a week! The game of chance only needs six crosses to make millionaires! Because the lottery numbers are drawn twice a week. 6 out of 49 is not only at least as important as the Sunday Statort, but also the most popular of all games of chance on the market. There is actually no one who has never tried his luck here.

What makes Lotto and what are the different versions? Everyone has heard of the Eurojackpot, but PowerBall and Mega Millions are also familiar to some players. Where the differences lie and what you should look out for, you will learn in this article.

How does Lotto 6 from 49 work?

For those who have not yet played the 6 out of 49 lotto, the following explanation can help. As a player, you bet on which six numbers will be drawn at random during the draw. You can choose from number fields from 1 to 49 on a ticket. You mark the numbers that are likely to be drawn with a cross.

To win the main prize in the draw, however, you also have to get the super number right. This super number can be found on the respective ticket. With online tickets, you can select the ticket number individually. If you buy a ticket from a real retailer, on the other hand, the number is fixed.

If you get both the six numbers from the field of numbers 1 to 49 right and the correct ticket number on the ticket, you win the grand prize! This is also called a jackpot and is generally in the range of at least 1 million euros.

How much does it cost to fill in a 6 out of 49 lottery field?

If you only fill in one field, i.e. try your luck once on 6 out of 49, you pay one euro! To increase the chance of winning, you can either fill in more fields or play more games. The other games are also called additional lotteries and are called Game 77 and Super 6.

How are the additional lotteries Spiel 77 and Super 6 played?

The additional lotteries can be selected by simply checking the box on the 6 out of 49 ticket, increasing your chances of winning. To win in Game 77 or Super 6, you only need to have the correct ticket number.

The more correct digits of the ticket number, the higher the prize. Unlike the constantly changing jackpot in the 6 out of 49 Lotto, the payout odds in supplementary lotteries are fixed. However, there are fees for the additional lotteries. Spiel 77 costs $2.50 and Super 6 costs $1.25.

The highest payout for Spiel 77 is at least $177,000. To achieve this payout, all seven numbers of the ticket number must match the draw. In Super 6, the highest prize is $100,000. Here, too, this payout is achieved if all six numbers on the ticket match the draw.

What is the probability of winning the Lotto 6 out of 49?

The probability of hitting the Lotto 6 out of 49 jackpot is 1: 139,838,160. For those interested, here are the probabilities for the two additional lotteries: In the case of Spiel 77, the probability of winning the main prize is 1: 10,000,000 and in the case of Super 6, the probability is 1: 1,000,000.

What other lottery types are there?

As already mentioned, you can play many other types of lotto. These differ not only in the cost of a ticket, but also in the maximum possible winnings. The most popular forms of lotto are described here. Before we start, here’s a little preview: there are specific lotteries that are only played in Europe, as well as those that are offered in the US. If you play online, you can participate in all lotteries!

In order to win the million dollar jackpot, you have to correctly guess seven numbers. At first glance, this might seem similar to the classic 6 out of 49 lottery, but Eurojackpot is structured differently. A player has two fields to choose from. In Field A, you pick 5 numbers from a range of 1 to 50. Then, you choose two numbers from Field B, which are also known as Euro numbers. Field B contains numbers 1 to 8.

The odds of winning the Eurojackpot are 1 in 95,344,200. To win, all seven numbers must be correct.

If you want to win the jackpot, you have to guess all seven numbers correctly, just like in the Eurojackpot. First, you choose five numbers from the first field, which contains numbers 1 to 50. Then you select two “star” numbers from another field, which contains numbers 1 to 12, in contrast to the Eurojackpot.

The odds of winning are 1 in 139,838,160. To win the jackpot, you must have correctly chosen all seven numbers.

What sounds like power, also brings strong coal! Because Powerball comes up with unbelievably high winnings. Unlike Lotto, Eurojackpot, and Euromillions, Powerball is the American representative. To participate in the draw, you have to select five numbers from the field with the digits 1 to 69. In addition, you have to choose one more Powerball number from an extra field that displays the numbers 1 to 26.

The odds of winning Powerball are 1 in 292,201,338 and you have to pick all six numbers correctly to win the jackpot.

Mega Millions

Mega Millions is the American version of the European lottery. Players have the chance to win incredibly high prizes here; in 2012, the jackpot reached an unbelievable 656 million US dollars. And it was won! To participate in the drawing, players choose 5 numbers from a range of 1 to 75. In the second field, a number from 1 to 15 is selected.

In Mega Millions, the odds of winning are 1 in 258,890,850, and if you match all six numbers, you win the jackpot!

El Gordo

What sounds Spanish is also Spanish! El Gordo is the Spanish Christmas lottery and has been played since 1812. There are no numbers to pick in El Gordo – if you want a chance at the grand prize, all you have to do is buy a ticket. There are 100,000 different ticket numbers issued. Due to the small number of ticket numbers, the probability of winning is also 1 : 100,000.

When was the first lotto played?

The first lotto-like bets were made as early as the 15th century. To determine the council members, the Genoese wrote ninety names on slips of paper. Then the five names of the new council members were drawn from the slips. What was supposed to be a fair choice quickly developed into a betting frenzy.

The first person to generate real sales with Lotto was Benedetto Gentile. He offered the number lotto as “5 out of 90” and generated high profits. Of course, it didn’t take long for other people to follow suit.

How can you increase your chances of winning?

There are numerous strategies to increase the likelihood of winning. For instance, you can fill in as many fields on a lottery ticket as possible, using different number sequences. By doing this, you increase your chances of winning the jackpot, but at the same time, the ticket becomes more expensive.

Pools are also a good idea. In a pool, all the fields on a lottery ticket are filled in, and the cost of the ticket is divided among the participants. This makes the ticket cheaper. However, it is important to note that any potential winnings must be divided among all participants.

You can also always bet when the jackpot is extremely high. This saves you from having to participate in lottery rounds where the jackpot is comparatively low. If you then use the money you save for the really high winnings, the chance of hitting the jackpot increases.

The Lottery Week?

Yes, if you are registered with the international providers, then you can participate in one of the lotteries the whole week! Except Mondays…but who likes Mondays?
