Special bets on groups of numbers

The bets we discuss always involve a group of numbers. Often this group is located together on the roulette wheel and also has a connection on the betting table. With the help of pictures we will also make the bets clear. The special bets we will cover:

  • Zero Game
  • Small Series
  • Large Series
  • Orphelins
  • Neighbors game

Let the dealer place the special bets

If you want to play these special bets at roulette in a real casino, it’s best to let the croupier set them. You simply say which bet you want to play and give the required number of chips.

The croupier/dealer will place these chips on the neighboring print in the appropriate box. At an online casino you simply click the special bet and the computer takes care of the rest. When the dealer starts placing the bets it will look like this:

  • The Zero Game

The French name is “Jeu Zero” and in English they say “Zero Game”. This refers to a bet on the numbers that are grouped on the roulette wheel around the zero (zero). To place this bet you need 4 betting units (chips).

Often you give these to the dealer indicating that you want to play the “zero game”. The numbers you play are: 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32 and 15. These are next to each other on the roulette wheel and on the playing field you can bet that with 4 chips.

You then play a cheval (split) on 0-3, 12-15 and 32-35 and a square (straight up) on 26. If it falls on 0-3-12-15-32 or 35, you will receive 17 times your bet from the croupier and the bet on the winning cheval will stand and it will also be yours. You may take it from the table, but of course the casino hopes you will play again. Online, you get 18x bets back because the computer takes away your bet. Your profit is then 18 minus 4 is 14 bets.

If the 26 falls you get 35 extra bets back, online 36x and you have thus 32 bets profit. The probability of one of the numbers in the Zero Game falling is 18.92%.

  • Small Series

The French name for Small Series is “Tiers du Cylindre” also known as “Serie 5/8”. The small series involves 12 numbers that sit side by side in a row on the roulette wheel.

With 6 chips, all of these numbers can be bet at once with a cheval bet. If one of the numbers from this series falls you will receive 18x your bet and thus have a 12 bet win. The probability of a number from the Small Series falling is 32.43%.

  • Big Series

The French name for this is “Voisins du Zero” also known as “Serie 0/2/3”. The Big Series involves 17 consecutive numbers on the roulette wheel.

They are the numbers 22,18,29,7,28,12,35,3,26,0,32,15,19,4,21,2,25. These numbers are in such positions on the roulette table that you can play these 17 numbers with 9 chips. On the intersection of 0/2/3, 2 chips are placed and on the intersection between 25/26/28/29, 2 chips are placed as well. Furthermore, only cheval bets are placed on the remaining numbers.
    Large Series betsBig Series bets
If the 0, 2 or 3 falls you get 24x (2×12) your bet, if 25, 26, 27 or 28 falls you get 18x (2×9) your bet. All other numbers in the big series earn 18x your bet. The probability of dropping a number from the Big Series is 45.95%.

  • Orphelins

Numbers that actually fall out of everything are the Orphelins, the literal translation is orphans. The numbers belonging to this group are in two groups together in the roulette wheel and are 1,20,14,31,9 and group 17,34,6. With 5 chips these 8 numbers can be played.
    Betting OrphelinsOrphelin bets
The number 1 is set as a square (full number). The other numbers can be played as cheval bets. If the 1 falls you will receive 36x your bet and if one of the other numbers of the Orphelins falls you will receive 18x your bet. The probability of one of these numbers falling is 21.62%.

  • The neighbor game

People often want to play the neighbor game. They suspect that a number is going to fall and, just to be sure, they also put the neighbors of this number on the roulette wheel. This is to counteract the disappointment if the number “just doesn’t fall”.

You have the option of playing “single neighbors”, that is, the specific number and the number to the left and right of it.
Bet 7 with neighborsBet 7 with neighbors
But most people play double neighbors, so the number even and two numbers to the left and right next to it, 5 numbers in total. Basically if you say neighbors only you are playing double neighbors. This bet costs 5 chips and then you play all 5 numbers square. If one of the numbers falls you receive 36x the bet. The probability of a number of the neighbor game falling is 13.51%.

For example, if you play the number 7 with the neighbors then you play the numbers 22,18,7,28,12.

Betting on special roulette bets is easy and fun

Playing special bets in roulette is fun and above all very easy. You give the croupier the number of chips required and tell him what special bet you want to play. In official terms this is called “annunciating”. The English term for this is a “called bet”, because you call out the bet to the croupier. What’s also the easy part about these bets is that you know where to look on the roulette wheel. This makes it easy to follow if the ball is going to fall into one of your numbers.
Some players also think that they can tell from the speed at which the ball goes through the bowl and the speed at which the wheel spins, that they can predict approximately where the ball is going to fall. In that case it is smart to play consecutive numbers. Whether these players can really do that or whether it’s mainly a gut feeling of these people, we’ll leave aside for the moment.
